If you would like to spend a day outdoor and enjoy pleasant and relaxing landscapes, the ascent from Carona to Calvi is a perfect excursion. You can park the car near the ENEL power plant, at the end of the town towards the narrower part of the valley, and begin to climb along trail no. 210. The climb is continuous and long, but not challenging. During the ascent, you will see open wide valleys, with woods, rivers and little mountain town. Along the way you will find several other trails. One of these, which you will meet after about an hour of walk, will bring you to the Alpine Refuge Longo. Going up you come up to a large dam. It is the Fregabolgia Lake dam. Going up to the left of the dam you will arrive at the Lake. You walk to the left of the Lake on a Causeway. Passing through sparse forests and ruins of abandoned houses, you begin to see the refuge at the end of the Valley.
